Constitution

A constitution clarifies the association’s purpose, hierarchy or structure, and provides the foundation for the advancement of the organization’s mission.

Our constitution specifically outlines:

  • ACSA’s purpose
  • Our role in the University of Calgary and larger Calgary community
  • Our organizational structure
  • Member roles (i.e. President, Vice President, Secretary) and their responsibilities
  • How membership is granted and the membership process (i.e. fees)
  • Election policies such as voting methods, candidate nomination processes, and criteria for office
  • Orders of business or standard rules for conducting meetings
  • The amendment procedure, should the constitution need to be changed in the future
